How can I get my hair back to it's natural colour?

I have recently dyed my hair dark brown after being a bottle red-head for around 12 months. I have now decided to go back to my natural light mousey brown colour and I was wondering what the best way to achieve this is.

I was thinking of using a dark brown semi to touch up my roots which would at least hide them as the colour starts to grow out. I am open to suggestions =).

I went to a salon and had them match my natural color

that way it was as close as possible.
